Erica Gionfriddo, a native of Enfield, CT received her B.F.A in Dance Performance and Choreography cum laude from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. While attending SU Erica worked in residency with Second Wind Dance Company in Virginia Beach, with Cie: Ekilibre and toured internationally in Spain and Taiwan. She has performed repertoire by Robert Moses, Gail Gilbert, Arturo Fernandez, John Lehrer and David Parsons. Erica is a certified Pilates Mat Teacher Trainer, a certified GYROKINESIS® trainer and GYROTONIC® apprentice.
Erica teaches abroad in Catalunya, Spain and in universities around the US, in addition to being on faculty at 3 studios in Northern New Mexico where she teaches modern and ballet technique, composition and choreography, as well as a variety of conditioning classes for all levels. From 2007-2010 Erica served as School Director and Production Assistant for Moving People Dance Center where she continues to teach and choreograph for the student company. As a choreographer Erica is heavily influenced by the work of Robert Moses, Juliu Horvath and her artistic partner and mentor, Curtis Uhlemann. She has choreographed for ten time world champions The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, been commissioned by Morehead State University and Shenandoah Conservatory, and most recently by INTERDANSA where her work toured 20 cities in Costa Brava, Spain.
Erica serves as Associate Artistic Director of ARCOS Dance (www.arcosdance.com) where she has the privilege of choreographing and performing with talented and supportive artists from all over northern NM. Her passion for individual growth drives her to create a challenging and inspiring environment for dancers of all backgrounds to explore and develop as artists and as people. She is thrilled to share this passion with the dedicated artists at DALA.
